ALL Forum and Gen. Assembly

Forum entitled "Library Crosses : the Blocks for IQUAME" and General Assembly of Association of Laguna Librarians was successfully finished last March 26, 2010 at the UPLB Main Library Conference Room, College, Laguna. It was attended by 24 librarians from different colleges, schools and universities in Laguna. Our resource speaker, Prof. Corazon M. Nera, BFL Chairman and the Library Director of Lyceum of the Philippines University in Manila shared her expertise and knowledge in the preparation of IQUAME documents. Thank you Ma'am Nera.

After the forum, the election of new set of officers was held. It was agreed by the body that the Pres. VP, SEC, Auditor, PRO and Board of Trustees remained in the line up. The members voted for Treasurer and one Board of Trustee. So, the result was. Ms. Justina P. Garcia from SSCR-Canlubang was elected as Treasurer and Ms. Victoria Welgas from LSPC-Los Banos as Board of Trustee. Congratulations to the two librarians. Welcome to ALL.

The 2010 ALL officers would like to thank the UPLB Main Library for allowing us to use their facilities and resources.

Forum: Library Crosses: the blocks for IQUAME

The Association of Laguna Librarians (ALL) in cooperation with the University of the Philippines Los Banos Library will be having a Forum entitled “Library Crosses, the blocks for IQUAME” on March 26, 2010 from 8:00-12:00 at the UPLB Main Library Conference Room, Los Banos, Laguna.

The objective of the forum is to prepare the University/College for IQUAME as well as the library standards and procedures concerned.

A forum fee of Five Hundred pesos (Php 500.00) will be collected from participants to cover the certificates and snacks.

General Assembly and Election of new set of officers for 2010 will be followed right after the forum at around 2:00 pm.

IFLA/FAIFE Internet Manifesto Seminar-Workshop on September 18, 2009

The Association of Laguna Librarians (ALL) in cooperation with PLAI-Southern Tagalog Region Librarians Council (STRLC) is hosting the IFLA-FAIFE Internet Manifesto Trainers Workshop Project in the Philippines 2009 with the theme: “Revolutionizing Information: A Seminar-Workshop on IFLA/FAIFE Internet Manifesto” which will be held on September 18, 2009, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the University of Perpetual Help Laguna, Mini-Auditorium, Sto. Niño, Biñan, Laguna.

The objective of this workshop is to disseminate and train libraries on the emerging role of internet in today’s information revolution and also to implement the IFLA-FAIFE Internet Manifesto at the regional level.

Topics include: IFLA-FAIFE and Internet Manifesto : An Overview; Implementing the Internet Manifesto; The Current Role of Internet in Philippine Libraries: Scenarios and Trends; Laws and Policies Regulating Internet Access in the Philippines and How to Write an Internet Use Policies.

Seminar: Exercising Leadership in the Library

The Association of Laguna Librarians (ALL) in partnership with ZDRiVE, Inc. is inviting librarians, library managers/administrators, teachers of Library and Information Science and other library personnel to a One-day seminar entitled "Exercising Leadership in the Library: Your Career Option? on April 24, 2009 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the University of Perpetual Help Laguna Library, Sto. Nino, Binan, Laguna. The seminar fee is Php 500.00.

The Seminar objectives are:

To help librarians, managers, and other library personnel to develop their leadership skills;
To examine how leadership qualities help to overcome the challenges commonly encountered by the libraries;
To develop a core of knowledgeable, dedicated and motivated individual who will undertake various leadership responsibilities;
To identify personal career latitude and ;

Lakad-Dunong and Forum: Basic of IL for teachers and librarians

As the Association of Laguna Librarians (ALL) recognize their key role in preparing the people for the demand of today's information age, ALL has chosen Information Literacy (IL) as the main area interest for this year. To launch the year-long program, they have organized "Lakad-Dunong: IL walk for a cause" on May 22, 2008 (Thursday), 6:00 am at the Baker Hall ground, UP Los Baños, College, Laguna

Lakad-Dunong: IL walk for a cause is ALL's kick-off event that targets to generate funds for its Alay-Dunong program in July 2008. This fun walk would also serves as an awareness campaign to encourage fellow library and information professionals and colleagues in the educational sector to further realize their responsibilities in promoting IL as a very vital survival skill.

On the same day, there will also be a Forum entitled "Basic IL for teachers and Librarians" at 1:00 pm, at the Lecture Hall of the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of the Philippines Los Baños, with Ms. Mary Ann Ingua of the UPLB Main Library are the resource speaker.

Registration fees:

Lakad - Dunong and IL Forum: Php 500 (inclusive of t-shirt, campus tour, lunch and snacks, raffle, certificates and handouts)

Lakad - Dunong only: Php 300 ( (inclusive of t-shirt, lunch and snacks)

IL Forum only: Php 200 (inclusive of snacks, certificates and handouts)

Likha-Dunong: on the spot logo making competetion

The Association of Laguna Librarians (ALL) formerly known as Laguna Librarians Association (LLA) will hold an on-the-spot logo making competition dubbed as "Likha-Dunong" wherein artistically smart students from some Laguna schools will showcase their talents and skills on February 29, 2008, Friday, at 1:00 pm, at the University of the Philippines Los Baños Main Library

The concept of organizing LIKHA-DUNONG is rooted in the Association of Laguna Librarians’ noble advocacy to promote Information Literacy to the community it represents, particularly to the young generation of today. As information professionals, the Association commits itself to encourage every young learner to value this vital skill more than ever, in this age when the need for information that is properly obtained, assessed, and applied, is already considered a requisite for survival.

LIKHA, which means “a creation” and DUNONG, that refers to karunungan or knowledge, stands to our aim to find out how the participants would interpret their understanding of information literacy after joining the forum. The desired output is to come up with an artwork, specifically a logo that would symbolize the significance of being an information-literate member of the society nowadays. Likha-Dunong is the Association’s first endeavor to promote awareness of this skill since it has chosen information literacy as its main area of interest this year.*
